A scene from Desire under the Elms (first published in 1924) written by the American playwright Eugene Gladstone O'Neill (1888-1953) and produced at the Karmerny (Chamber) Theatre, Moscow, under the direction of Aleksandr Yakovlevich Tairov (1885-1950) in 1930. In this year, Kamerny Theatre toured to Germany, Prague, Vienna, Italy, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo, performing Oscar Wilde's Salome, Alexander Ostrovsky's Storm, Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms, and Charles Lecocq's Girofle-Girofla.
