   The play was first performed at Feb 1, 1904 at the Intime Theater in Nürnberg, but banned by the German censors afterwards. But Karl Kraus organised a private performance of Frank Wedekind's Die  Büchse der Pandora at the Trianon Theatre in Vienna, on May 29, 1905.

1- Romeo and Juliet (Mr. Lewis Waller and Miss Evelyn Millard) :  "Night's candles are burnt out, and jocund day / Stands tiptoe on the misty mountain tops."

2- Mr. H. V. Esmond as Mercutio :  "Men's eyes were made to look, and let them gaze,

       I will not budge for no man's pleasure, I."

3- Juliet with the Friar (Mr. A. E. George) : "Oh bid me leap, rather than marry Paris,

       From off the battlements of yonder tower ;"

4- Juliet with her nurse (Miss Mary Rorke) : "O, he's a lovely gentleman! Romeo's a dishclout to him."
