Some scenes from Till Damaskus (Nach Damaskus, first published in 1898) written by the Swedish playwright August Strindberg (1849-1912), directed by Friedrich Kayßler (1874-1945) and stage-designed by Karl Jakob Hirsch (1892-1952), played by Ernst Stahl-Nachbaur (1886-1960), Helene Fehdmer (1872-1939), and Friedrich Kayßlerin, at the theater of Volksbühne, Berlin, in November 1920.

Some scenes from The Emperor Jones written by the American playwright Eugene O'Neill (1888 -1953)  and first staged on November 1, 1920, by the Provincetown Players at the Provincetown Playhouse, New York City, with Charles Sidney Gilpin playing the role of Brutus Jones on stage. It ran for 204 performances and was hugely popular, touring in the States with this cast for the next two years.

In November 1921, the Provincetown Players presented Eugene O'Neill's The Emperor Jones. This landmark drama marked the first time an African-American actor, Charles S. Gilpin, played the lead in a play produced by a white company.
