   The crook comedy in two parts was made in 1926 and was published the following year; it was premiered on 18 March 1927 at the Berlin Schauspielhaus. In A Better Gentleman, Hasenclever parodies the modern lifestyle of the late 1920s, especially the fashionable 'frenzy' and hectic bustle of the time.
