Two scenes from Hindle Wakes (1911) written by the English playwright Stanley Houghton (a prominent member of the Manchester School of dramatists, 1881 - 1913), originally produced by Annie Horniman's Gaiety Theatre company at the Playhouse, Manchester, and then at the Aldwych Theatre in London, 1912, featuring Leonard Mudie, Ada King and Fanny Goodall as Fanny Hawthorn.
It was first performed in 1912 by Annie Horniman's Gaiety Theatre company, originally in Manchester and then in London and on Broadway.
Houghton's greatest success came with his play Hindle Wakes, which was first performed by Horniman's company at the Aldwych Theatre, London, on 16 June 1912. It had a long run in London, and remains his best known work.
