The original cast featured John Gielgud as 'John Worthing', Anthony Ireland as 'Algernon Moncrieff', Mabel Terry-Lewis as 'Lady Bracknell', Iris Baker as 'Gwendolen Fairfax', Heather Angel as 'Cecily Cardew', Jean Cadell as 'Miss Prism', Charles Staite as 'Rev. Canon Chasuble', Richard Caldicot as 'Lane' and Scott Russell as 'Merriman'.
